There are two types of car air filters: engine and cabin filters. Engine air and cabin air filters for cars are fundamentally the same, but they are designed for different roles. If your car uses a Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor to determine air flow, then this will not apply, as the sensor will be located much deeper in the system.
